Saint Philip the Apostle fisherman of Bethsaida in Galilee, was among the first to be called by Jesus to be close to him. He begins his mission by announcing the Messiah to Nathanael. According to apocryphal sources, Philip evangelized Scythia for twenty years and later he arrived in Hierapolis in the region of Phrygia where he converted many to Christianity, even the proconsul's wife, who had him nailed to a tree upside down. After his death he was buried there.
