Brother of the apostle Peter, the apostle Andreas was a disciple of John the Baptist and later of Jesus. He preached the Christian religion in Bithynia, the Black Sea, Cyprus, Thrace, Macedonia, Epirus and Achaia, where he healed many patients with strength of his faith. He is the patron saint of Patras, where his relics are kept.
