At the Kazan Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Russia, there is another depiction of Christ as Pantocrator. The icon was hagiographed in the sixteenth century, when Ivan IV the Terrible was in power, and is a typical hagiographic example of the Christ of the Russian school, having been inspired by the first icon of the Christ Pantocrator, in the first half of the sixth century, the icon of the encaustic found in the Monastery of Santa Caterina del Sinai.
