It is a 16th century icon. As indicated by Christian hagiography, Christ Pantocrator towers over the central dome of all Byzantine churches; if instead the church does not have a dome, the figure of Christ is hagiographed in the center of the ceiling of the temple. In this version of the icon, Jesus Christ is depicted with a rigorous look but which expresses the love that characterizes him, with a golden halo, blessing with his right hand and holding the Gospel close to his chest with his left hand. The original icon, a source of inspiration for the hagiographer, is located in Sifnos, on the sacred rock of Chrysopigi, at the famous monastery of Panagia Chrysopigi, built in 1650.
